Is artificial intelligence a threat to online casino operators?

With the development of artificial intelligence, it may soon be easier for players to beat the casino. After all, it will be possible to teach a computer to think and recognize the algorithms on which online casino games work. What will happen in the future when the creators of artificial intelligence seriously turn their attention to the gambling industry? Will this be the beginning of the decline of online casinos?

What is artificial intelligence?

It is a human-made intelligence. That is, the machine can analyze data, make decisions and learn. Artificial intelligence began its development in the 50s. The first robot to play checkers was created. Then other programs were created that could think and solve problems as efficiently as possible.

A significant event for artificial intelligence was the victory of the Deep Blue computer over the champion Gary Kasparov on February 10, 1996. Despite the fact that the computer lost 4-2 on aggregate, this day was remembered as a huge breakthrough.

If we consider the history closer to us and the games closer to us, then here too there is a major victory for artificial intelligence over the best human minds. In January 2017, a computer known as Libratus won a 20-day poker tournament.

Poker was considered one of the most difficult games for artificial intelligence, since information cannot be taken for granted here. After all, players can bluff, and this must be taken into account by the computer. In this case, decisions should be made based on the strategy of opponents.

Nevertheless, Libratus successfully completed its task. It was preceded by a robot named Claudico. Both have one main creator - Tuomas Sandholm. Claudico also took part in the poker tournament and won it. This was in 2014. But it was a tournament among the same programs, and not a competition with professional players. But the achievement of Libratus is precisely in the fact that he beat the best professionals.

Can artificial intelligence help win?

Definitely yes. There is no doubt that artificial intelligence can do this task. You put the program at the slot machine, spin the reels thousands, hundreds of thousands of times and it decrypts the algorithm. But the problem is that if this technology becomes available to players, then casinos will even more so have access to it. Even more advanced intellects will be used for protection.

These algorithms, which are used in casino games, give completely random results only for the human brain. And for a computer that is trained to identify patterns, this will be a solvable task. The only question will be how long it will take to determine a specific game algorithm.

And after the algorithm is defined, artificial intelligence will be able to predict when payments will occur, and how much money you will receive. The same principle was used by Alex from Peter, whom we wrote about earlier. He did not hack the slots and did not interfere with the operation of the slots.

Instead, Alex bought a real slot machine, studied it and understood what algorithm it works with. This gave him the opportunity to develop a large, semi-legal business. Semi-legal because this method is not even considered a violation of the law in some countries.

Artificial intelligences will work on the same principle. Only they will no longer need the slot machine itself. Considering that almost any online casino game is available for free, there will be no restrictions for researchers and software developers.

Since by law the demo game must be played in exactly the same way as the real money game, the results obtained in the test mode can be successfully applied in the real money game. Unless, of course, the developer is cheating, as is the case with GameArt.

Due to the development of artificial intelligence, even the principle of casino games may change in the future. Now they depend on RNG, and then new technologies will appear, the work of which cannot be calculated by smart programs.

What is your opinion?

What are your thoughts on artificial intelligence and its impact on the future of online casinos? Will there really be programs that can "read" algorithms? Will players be able to take advantage of artificial intelligence?
