Jeep® has officially launched production of the all-new 2026 Compass (J4U) at Stellantis’ Melfi Assembly Plant in southern Italy, marking the start of a new chapter for the brand’s global SUV lineup. The third-generation Compass combines legendary off-road capability, refined design, and advanced electrified powertrains, redefining what a compact SUV can be.
For nearly two decades, the Compass nameplate has represented Jeep’s adventurous spirit worldwide. Now, the 2026 Jeep Compass builds on that heritage as the most technologically advanced version ever produced.
Constructed on Stellantis’ new STLA Medium platform, the J4U delivers improved strength, space, and efficiency. It has been designed to accommodate multiple powertrain options, from hybrid to fully electric, setting new standards for flexibility within the Jeep family.
Engineered for versatility, the new Compass performs with equal confidence on highways and rugged trails, offering an ideal balance of comfort, capability, and performance.
True to Jeep’s philosophy of “freedom of choice,” the 2026 Compass offers a full range of electrified powertrains to match diverse driving needs:
No matter the variant, each Compass remains unmistakably Jeep: rugged, capable, and ready for adventure.
The new Compass is no soft-roader. With over 200 mm of ground clearance, 480 mm of water-fording capability, and optimized approach and departure angles, it’s built to tackle challenging terrain.
Jeep’s Selec-Terrain™ system enhances traction with drive modes such as Auto, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock (depending on trim), adjusting power and torque for optimal control. Combined with 360-degree sensors, advanced safety assists, and aerodynamic improvements including a drag coefficient of just 0.29, the Compass ensures both superior capability and efficiency.
The 2026 Compass showcases a bold new design with a sleeker profile, sculpted lines, and slim LED headlights framing Jeep’s iconic seven-slot grille.
Inside, the cabin merges rugged Jeep durability with upscale refinement. Highlights include:
Every element has been crafted to provide maximum comfort, convenience, and technology integration.
The Melfi Assembly Plant, operational since 1993, serves as a cornerstone of Stellantis’ European production network. With over 2.3 million Jeep vehicles produced to date, the facility combines advanced robotics with Italian craftsmanship.
Spanning 1.9 million square meters and employing more than 4,600 skilled workers, Melfi operates one of the most flexible manufacturing systems in Europe, capable of producing multiple models and powertrains, including full BEVs.
Melfi also represents the future of sustainable manufacturing. Through the use of high-precision laser alignment systems and an innovative 4-Wet paint process, Stellantis has minimized environmental impact while maintaining superior build quality.
By 2030, the plant aims to become a near-zero-emission facility, powered by renewable energy sources such as solar panels, wind turbines, and biomethane capable of generating 54 megawatts and meeting 70% of total energy needs.
The all-new 2026 Jeep Compass (J4U) symbolizes Jeep’s evolution. Built with global ambitions, advanced electrified powertrains, and unmistakable Jeep DNA, it redefines what it means to drive with confidence, capability, and sustainability.
